Send Customer a Notification

A notification can be sent to a single recipient, triggered from locations such as the customer user dashboard or the operations menu attached to the user search. When triggered from the main menu operation, the “Customer User Search” will be triggered with a context of “send notification”.

After selecting a recipient, (Via Customer User Search) the send single notification modal will appear. It should be noted that it would not be possible to change the recipient from this control once they have been tagged. You would, instead have to close the control and select another recipient through the search process.

Elements of the Single Notification form are as follows:

  • Recipient - The relevant customer user icon and their name
  • Sender - The relevant staff user icon and their name (the currently logged in user)
  • User Push Notifications - Shows the current known status of push notification for the current customer user. A note is shown next to this stating, “Note that this does not guarantee delivery”. It may be possible that the user has disabled notifications on their device(s) which is not known to the management portal.
  • Method Preference 1 - The first preference for sending the notification as a select control. Will default to “Push Notification” if push notifications is known to be on. If “SMS” or “Email” is selected for this, the respective icon will appear with the specific address or number that will be used.
  • Method Preference 2 - The second preference for sending the notification as a select control. Will default to null (not mandatory). This preference is only active if the first preference is “push notification” as there is no fallback method for SMS or email failures.
  • Message Type - A select list to classify the type of message. In some contexts, this is used as the notification title (from the perspective of the staff user). This message type may default to a value based on the context of the form. The list of message types can be updated through the system configuration. The following messages types are available:
    • Water Service Disruption
    • Public Notice
    • Water Notices Issued
    • Custom Notification
    • Leak Alert (Only triggered from MiWater)
    • High Water Usage (Only triggered from MiWater)
    • Response to Service Request
  • Delay Delivery? - A checkbox which, when selected will cause the message to be sent at a specific time in the future.
  • Message Details - The details of the message that will be sent.
  • Message Length - Shows the number of characters in the message
  • Confirm - A checkbox that the user must accept before the message can be sent. The text displayed is a configurable system constant. The “Send Notification” button in the footer is disabled until this checkbox has been selected.
