Add Part(s)
The Add Part(s) button within the Parts Management section of Asset Bulk Part Change will always be active (never disabled).
This button is used for the following operations:
Add brand new part(s) by selecting the product (SAM1: Add New Part)
Add brand new part(s) by copying from another piece of equipment (SAM1: Import)
Add existing (parked) parts assigned on site (SAM1: Refit Parked Parts).
Add existing (rebuilt) parts assigned on site (SAM1: Refit rebuilt parts)
When the operator selects the “Add Parts” button, this will reveal the “Add Parts” modal which is exampled to the right →
Within this modal control, the user can select method for how parts are to be selected and added to the asset and then conduct a search to find the appropriate part or parts.
This process will allow for multiple different parts to be added to the underlying asset, as well as adding the same part multiple times in multiple configurations.
The form contains the following sections:
Asset and Site Summaries - as per other modals in the SAM2 system - Asset info is displayed at the top of the form.
Instructions - Configurable text describing how to use the form.
Add Part(s) From - This section contains the three different options for adding parts to the selected asset. Within the body of this section are three large radio button controls;
Product List - Will allow the user to search for any product and create a new part against the selected asset from one of those products.
Copy from Another Asset - Will allow the user to select another asset and create new part(s) from the parts that are assigned to that asset.
Add Parked Parts - Will allow the user to add a part to the selected asset that are currently “parked” against the site (or another site)
In response to selecting each of these three options, the parameters / results functionality will be updated.
Search button - in the footer section of the form is the Search button. Once parameters have been submitted, the results will be displayed in the second tab.
Add Part(s) Search parameters and Search results -
Detailed information on the search and results depending on which radio button you choose for Adding Part(s);
Search again
After search has been completed, the “Apply Filters” button will be replaced with a button “Search Again” with the “search” icon .
If the user selects the “search again” button in the footer, this will reopen the “parameters” tab. Also, if the user selects one of the other part selection “methods” this will cause the search results to be cleared and the parameters revealed.
Add Part - Configure New Part to Fit:
Once the Search and results steps are complete, The Add Part Modal is triggered from using the Add Button in the search results.
The Configure New Part to Fit pop up form will know the product or part that is to be added as well as the asset to which it should be added.
This modal can be used to create a brand-new part from a selected product or to reattach a parked part with historic information. The layout of the modal is as per the example here →
Configure Fitting Form
The top portion of the panel contains generic information about the product.
Name of the product
Product No
2MT Product?
Common Name
Default Price
Manufacturer
Serial Number
Target Life
Weight
Product Category
Number of parts section - two radio buttons for choosing to fit a Single or Multiple Parts.
Single Part - the form is for one part
Multiple Part - the form is adjusted slightly to include a field labelled “Number of Parts” *example here →
Configure Fitting to Asset section
Field Name | Description & Functionality |
---|---|
Serial Number | This field will contain the part’s serial number which is determined by an algorithm based on the base serial number of the product. That algorithm simply adds an increasing number against the base serial number. The user is able to manually alter this serial number. This control has a special button with the “undo” glyph. If selected, the serial number will revert to the number that was computed for this part (resetting it if they have manually changed it)
|
New/ Refurbished? | Unlike a new part, there is no real need to define an alternate price list for a refurbished part and there is also a much higher likelihood that the price for such a part would be determined at the point when the part is applied to an asset, as opposed a new part where the price is mostly driven by the price list. So, the revised process will remove the functionality that requires definition of a product as being “new” or “refurbished” and shift this to the point where the product becomes a part and is applied against an asset during the “Bulk Part Change” process. |
Position | A select box to specify the position of the part. Mandatory field. |
Assembly | A select box with a list of assemblies configured for the asset. Mandatory field. |
Sub-Assembly | A select box with the list of sub-assemblies associated with the assembly. Optional field. |
Date Fitted | A date control for when the part is to be fitted. Defaults to today’s date. Mandatory field. |
Target Life | Text box containing the default production target life of the part from the product list but can be updated if necessary here. The unit of measure shown in the postfix is determined by the product. Mandatory field. |
Production | Text box for the user to specify a starting production value for the part and the associated production postfix. Mandatory field. |
Cost | Cost of the part. Optional field (set to zero). |
Weight | Weight of the part. Defaults to the weight from the product catalogue. Optional field. |
Site | Defaults to the selected site but lists all sites that the user has access to. This control exists to give the user to hypothetically associate the selected part to a different asset. Mandatory field. |
Asset | Defaults to the selected asset but lists all assets for the selected site. This control exists to give the user to hypothetically associate the selected part to a different asset. Mandatory field. |
Notes | A general comments control for notes associated with the fitting of the part to the asset. |
Save New Part
The footer control contains the option to “Save New Part” which will save the selected part against the assigned asset. Once complete the user should be presented with the success animation as shown here →
Once complete, this modal should close and then reveal the “Add Parts” modal below it which would allow the user to (hypothetically) add another different part or another part of the same with a different position.
Variant – Add Existing Part
When an existing (parked) part is selected to be added, a slightly different variation of this form is displayed, exampled here →
This variant has the following differences from the standard version:
• The target life in the product information shows the parts current production, target life and percentage of target.
• The serial number for the part is set to the parked part’s serial number, but can be altered by the user.
• The “position”, “assembly”, “Sub-assembly”, “Cost”, “weight” and “target life” are set to the values the part previously had when it was last attached. • The “Production” value is set to the past production value but can be overridden by the operator.
